Hello! Welcome to my page. I'm Dylan, and Mom has given me my very own web page. Of course, she gave all the other kitties in this house one too. But, since I'm the oldest, I get to be first on the list. I'm about 8 years
old, or about 48 in human years. That gives me seniority in this house, let me tell you! (Or do you think it has anything to do with the fact that I weigh-in at about 16 pounds? After all, my nickname is "Big 'Un").
I'm named for Bob Dylan, of course. Actually, my name is Bobcat Dylan. Mom and Poppy have a sick sense of humor; they named me for Bobcat Golthwaite and Bob Dylan.
No wonder I'm warped. Anyway, Bob Dylan is one of Poppy's favorite musicians, so that was a no-brainer. As for the other part...go figure.
Well, now, enough about them--more about me. Mom and Poppy rescued me from the local SPCA, even though I was an adult cat; they think I was about a year old at the time. I don't remember much about how I came to be at the SPCA, but
the people there were very kind to me. Even so, it was not a home. Mom and Poppy took me home with them, and they are the best parents a cat could have. Like I said, the folks at the SPCA were very nice--they even put off euthanizing me for a couple of months because they liked
me so much. Lucky me!
Mom and Poppy came and picked me out of the lineup when I was about 1 week away from that happy catnip field in the sky. Now, I get tuna and milk every day, have lots of toys, and sleep on a soft bed with Mom and Poppy (I especially like Sundays when Poppy and I get to sleep late). Mom and Poppy had me neutered (well, it "sorta" worked), they make sure I get
all of my shots, and take me to the vet whenever I have a health problem. I guess I should thank them for all of these things, but somehow its hard to be thankful for the vet trips. But I'm warning that vet, if he tells me one more time that I'm fat...
I really like to chase my adopted sister, Blue,
but she has such a big mouth! She screams for Mom and Poppy every time I jump her, and then they fuss at me. I ask you, is that fair? I also like to chase Jet, one of the newcomers to the house. Mom and Poppy don't like that, either. Its the only exercise I get, so I don't understand why they get so pushed out of shape over it.
Something else I really like is electrical cords. Poppy really gets mad
when he sees that I've been chewing on a stereo or computer cable. What can I say, I just like the taste. And you know what else is really good? Those little antennas on cordless phones. Poppy says I ruined a phone by eating the antenna. Can that be true? Mom says she fully expects to come home one day and find a hole in the floor shaped like me. She always says something about "Christmas Vacation" when she says that.
I don't know what in the world she's talking about. Do you?
I'm the self-appointed "sheriff" for the kitty population in this house. Whenever one of the other kitties "has an accident" or otherwise screws up, I'm usually the one to find it. And I go straight to Mom and Poppy with the news. Its not that I like being a tattletale, I'm just very fastidious. And I don't like my house messed up.
Can anyone out there
tell me what the word "fetish" means? I overheard Mom and Poppy telling some of their friends that I have a "shoe fetish." I think it has something to do with the fact that if I see a pair of shoes on the floor, I like to lie on them. What's so strange about that? (Of course, I like to lie on pretty much anything--its what I do best.) Getting back to my problem,
I know what the word "shoe" means, so if I can find out the meaning of "fetish" I'll know exactly what they were talking about. I have a very uncomfortable feeling that it may not be very nice, because they all started laughing when the subject was discussed. Humans! Gotta love 'em.
I'm a very friendly cat. I always introduce myself to people who come to our house, and get downright affectionate to old friends. Poppy always tells people not to be afraid
of me--the worst I do is "friendly you to death," he says. Well, I don't know about that, but any friend of Mom and Poppy is a friend of mine.
Well, that's pretty much all I have to say right now--I'll be back again, though. In the meantime, here's a picture of me in one of my favorite poses. I've been told that I am very handsome and photogenic.
What do you think?
